About Ascent Software

Ascent Software was founded on the 3rd of July 1999 by Chris McGinlay. The focus of activity has now shifted towards web design and software development, away from the training services that Ascent previously delivered.

Development work has included

• Webpage - The Swan Sail Training Vessel - a joint project between Ascent Software and Mousa Web Authoring
• Webpage - Levenwick Community - a website commissioned by a local group
• Software Launch - Decay simulation program
• Software Launch - Arithmetic Practice
• The Clavis Training Database
• The Dunrossness Community Profile analysis package
• Youth Club web page co-ordination - motivating and organising the members of a youth club to get a web-page off the ground. (As a healthy website, this site has developed on its own, without further involvement from Ascent Software)

Currently, Ascent has moved more towards software development, including web page editing and mathematical education software

Limited Company

Ascent Software became a limited company in November 1999. The company is registered in Scotland, SC201671. Registered Office: Bank Of Scotland Buildings, Lerwick, Shetland, ZE1 0EB.

Short Term

The immediate aims of the company are

• the continued promotion of web editing services
• to further develop educational software

Longer Term

Over time, the company aims to sell software over the internet, growing a customer base for a small number of applications currently in varying stages of development.
